NCAA baseball tournament bracket, schedule, format on road to College World Series
College baseball's version of March Madness will play out in the month of June, but the drama is similar as the field of 64 sets a course for Omaha, Nebraska, and the Men's College World Series.
The nation's top 16 teams have the benefit of playing the opening round of the NCAA Division I baseball tournament on their home fields, with the top eight retaining the advantage in the next round if they're able to advance. The local flavor and passionate fanbases always generate a little extra excitement as the tourney progresses.
Eight teams will eventually make it to Omaha to determine the 2024 national champion following regionals and super regionals.
When are NCAA baseball regionals?
The NCAA Division I baseball tournament begins with the regionals, hosted by the top 16 overall seeds, from Friday, May 31-, Monday, June 3.
Each regional features four teams, and the format for regionals is double elimination – so a team is eliminated when it loses two games. The losers of the first two games will play each other in an elimination game, while the winners will play each other, and it plays out from there. The team to emerge without two defeats wins the regional.
When are NCAA baseball super regionals?
The 16 regional winners advance to the super regionals, held June 7-9 and June 8-10.
The super regionals are formatted into a bracket similar to March Madness. The No. 1 seed regional winner will face the No. 16 seed regional winner, the No. 2 seed vs. No. 15 seed, and so on. The better seed hosts a best-of-three series, and the winner advances to the Men's College World Series.
When does College World Series start?
The eight super regional champions advance to Omaha for the Men's College World Series. Double-elimination play begins June 14, with the best-of-three College World Series final June 22, 23 and 24 (if necessary).
