A woman handed herself into custody Sunday morning for allegedly fatally shooting an 80-year-old woman in her Dallas home around 5 a.m. that day, officials say.

Kelsie Miles, 30, has been charged with one count of murder for shooting Betty Hearn, according to the Dallas Police Department.

Miles drove herself to Grand Prairie Police Department, west of Dallas, after the incident and told authorities in the parking lot of the station about the shooting.

"Officers detained her and contacted Dallas PD who responded to our detention center where they took custody of her," Grand Prairie public information officer Mark Beseda told USA TODAY Monday.

Miles gave officers the address to Hearn's home, Dallas police said.

Officers forced entry to the provided address after no one responded and found Hearn shot on the floor where she had died on scene.

Dallas Police took Miles to their headquarters, and she was taken to Dallas County Jail. Officials say they have no additional information available at this time.
