The first dose of March Madness has arrived.

College basketball's conference tournaments serve as a prelude to the NCAA tournaments, setting the stage for unlikely upsets and shining moments between bitter rivals on a grand stage.

Tournaments for the women's game, which has enjoyed a transcendent year, are already underway. Most of the top conferences started with first-round games Wednesday, and all of them will have champions inside of a week.

Most of the intrigue starts, of course, with Caitlin Clark. The Iowa star broke the women's basketball career scoring record before becoming the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division I basketball March 3 by passing Pete Maravich. Clark and Iowa, which have won the past two Big Ten tournaments, play their first tourney game in the quarterfinals Friday.

Not to be outdone is undefeated South Carolina and defending champion LSU, which make up the Nos. 1 and 2 seeds, respectively, in the SEC tournament. The Gamecocks are the defending SEC champions and have won the conference tournament in seven of the past nine seasons. They were 36-0 last season before being knocked off by Iowa in the national semifinals to snap a 42-game winning streak. The Hawkeyes went on to lose to Angel Reese and LSU in the championship game for the Tigers' first national title.

Here are the schedules and scores from the top women's college basketball conference tournaments. (All times are Eastern.)
